Sahara Bank in Libya has set up a trade centre at its head office in Tripoli to support its local and international clients. The trade centre concept has been developed and used before by the bank's strategic partner BNP Paribas. The French bank has set up 90 centres across 85 countries. Sahara Bank has now joined this global network, and can access a variety of financing tools.
"The trade centre in Tripoli will provide better services to Libyan corporate and institutional sectors and to international companies thanks to a dedicated sales force of more than 250 trade professionals around the world,” comments Sahara Bank CEO Claude Rufin.
BNP Paribas became the strategic partner of Sahara Bank in July 2007.
The partnership aims to boost the development of the Libyan bank's business through the support and expertise of BNP Paribas, particularly in the areas of the retail banking products and services, project finance, international trade finance, and the modernisation of IT.
The new trade centre launch coincided with the two banks' joint trade finance conference held in Tripoli on April 9, 2008.
