Hassine leaves Citi for SMBC

Last Updated April 09, 2008

Eli Hassine has left his role as global head of export and agency finance at Citi to join SMBC's specialised finance department and develop the bank's export finance business in the Americas. He will also facilitate global product delivery working with SMBC's regional offices in Asia and Europe.

Joining Hassine at SMBC is former Citi colleague Mini Roy. Roy was previously head of primary origination at Citi, before leaving the bank along with Hassine on March 31, 2008.

Commenting on their move, William Ginn, executive officer, general manager and head of corporate banking - Americas division, at SMBC, remarks: "Given today's complex global markets and growing challenge to access funds for trade, investment and capital expenditure, our customers will require structuring and distribution expertise to access the official agency space and we look to Eli and Mini to help grow our product platform for this space.

"SMBC is expanding its presence and product suite globally and we look forward to developing our capabilities in export and agency financing.”
