Trade credit insurer Markel has added an underwriter to its team in Singapore, with Dillon Matthews joining as trade credit underwriter and senior risk analyst.

Matthews joins from Atradius, where he has worked as a senior underwriter since 2011, in both Singapore and Amsterdam. Before this, he was a business accountant at Cardiff Marine Group. He worked in Atradius’ special projects division, where his focus was on single situation credit risk and structured trade finance.

He reports to Abhishek Chhajer, senior underwriter and head of trade credit for Markel’s Singapore office.

Ewa Rose, the managing director for trade credit, political risk, and surety at Markel, says: “Dillon’s appointment reflects Markel’s continuing investment in our product lines on a global basis. We see significant opportunities in the Asia Pacific region and we look to capitalise on the cross selling opportunities that exist within Markel’s broader portfolio. Dillon’s broad underwriting experience will be a huge asset to our organisation and we are delighted to have him on board.”
