HSBC commercial banking has made two senior appointments to its new UK headquarters in Birmingham.

The news marks the latest milestone in the creation of HSBC UK, which will see more than 1,000 head office roles relocate from London to the new HSBC UK head office in Birmingham over the next few years.

Ian Tandy has been hired as head of global trade and receivables finance (GTRF), where he will help support UK businesses that are looking to expand on an international scale.

Tandy has more than 20 years’ experience working in trade finance and has been with HSBC since 2008. He was most recently regional director of London and head of trade within GTRF prior to that.

Jane Galvin has been hired as head of corporate banking. Her main responsibilities will be building on the bank’s corporate banking offering for mid-market customers.

Galvin comes from Barclays corporate banking where she was managing director focused on the east of England. She was at Barclays for 30 years, working in numerous roles across corporate and retail banking.

Commenting on the new hires, Amanda Murphy, head of commercial banking at HSBC UK, says: “Jane and Ian bring extensive experience to their roles, which will directly benefit our customers. I’m immensely proud of our commercial banking offering and I’m confident that with the added weight of Jane and Ian behind it, we will continue to see it go from strength to strength.”

Commenting on his new role Tandy says: “ I have worked very closely with many of our business customers as they have grown over the years and I look forward to continuing this in my new role.”
