Deutsche Bank’s global transaction banking business has appointed Willem Calame as head of commodity trade finance for the Europe (excluding Germany), Middle East and Africa region.

In his new role Calame will set the strategy for driving revenues across the commodity trade finance business in the region, and will also deliver the commodity trade finance platform to Deutsche Bank’s commodity traders. Based in Amsterdam, Calame has responsibility for the bank’s commodity trade finance teams in Switzerland as well as other locations in the Netherlands.

Calame has been working in Deutsche Bank’s commodity finance business for the past 14 years, including in the Emea structured commodity trade finance team under John MacNamara, where he had a particular focus on Africa. Before joining the bank, he worked extensively in loan capital markets.

He reports to Luca Corsini, head of trade finance, Emea (ex-Germany).
