Commerzbank has appointed Philipp Merten as vice-president and deal originator of export finance. Merten is based in Singapore and covers the Southeast Asia region, especially Indonesia. His responsibilities include building and enhancing relationships with importers and strengthening the efforts of the bank’s global structured export and trade finance business unit.

Merten has joined from Raiffeisen Bank International where he had been working since 2006 as vice-president of the Singapore branch, where he dealt with multinational corporates in general as well as with structured trade and export finance business in particular. Through his longstanding interest and presence in Southeast Asia, he is well acquainted with the cultural aspects of the region.

He reports to the Frankfurt-based head office, Cathrin Karpinski, export finance head of international markets.
