Amol Gupte has been named head of Asean and country officer for Citi in Singapore, as the bank continues its large overhaul of its Asian operations.

Gupte will be responsible for all the bank’s Singapore activity as well as the strategy for the Asean markets. He will move from his position as head of treasury and trade solutions, Asia Pacific, for which he is currently based in Hong Kong.

He has worked at Citi for 27 years across various roles in India, Emea and North America. He will report to the Asia Pacific CEO, Francisco Aristeguieta, who says: “Amol’s international experience in building and managing key businesses will be vital to our ongoing commitment to our clients in Singapore and throughout Asean. Singapore and the wider Asean market is a strategic priority for Citi, where we have built one of our largest and most diversified businesses, which is well positioned for future growth.”

Last week, the bank named Christine Lam head of China, while Gerry Keefe was last month named head of corporate banking for Asia Pacific.
