Ian Ramsden has been promoted to group risk director for Bibby Financial Services (BFS).

He was previously UK risk director from 2005, when he joined Bibby, to November 2015, when he took on the group-wide responsibility on an interim basis following the departure of Mark Hartigan after 10 years at the company.

He has 27 years of experience in banking and asset-based lending, including as head of large client audit at Barclays, where he led a team in structuring and managing facilities for corporate clients.

In 2015, Ramsden managed Bibby UK’s securitisation process, which helped it increase its total funding available by over £290mn.

“I’m delighted with this new role and look forward to helping BFS grow even more over the years ahead,” he says.

“Following our successful refinancing arrangement in 2015, we’re in a fantastic position to support more traditional SMEs, larger corporates and intermediaries alike. In the UK alone, we have over £770mn in funding available to support businesses and we’re now looking to grow our funding support globally, with a strong focus on key markets such as USA and Germany.”
